In the Kitchen & Bath category, the Grand Prize winner was awarded to Melissa Jessup of BL Cabinetry in Rural Hall, NC for her elegant vineyard-inspired kitchen which showcased many of White River’s signature mouldings and handcarved corbels and onlays.
******** A Kitchen Remodel with Elegant Vineyard Styling*********
This was a kitchen remodel project in grand scale. The homeowners had a preconceived idea of the ornate nature the kitchen would ultimately reflect. They moved to this area of the country, Pilot Mountain in North Carolina, to start a family vineyard. Because of the vineyard, a subtle grape motif was very important to incorporate.
The lighter cabinetry finish accentuated the wood molding design details perfectly. All of the cabinetry was designed in a flush inset door style which creates a unique effect in itself. The homeowners left much of the design details to the cabinet designer. The variety of White River moldings and materials used in this design helped to create an elegant, yet comfortable style and brilliantly surpassed any preconceived expectations.
The islands were designed in a medium stained cherry finish with a contrasting inset door style. The door style used on the islands features an applied bead design with blocking in the corners. The island also featured custom corner accent columns that were fabricated using the MLD5916 Vineyard Frieze molding applied in a vertical fashion. The Egg and Dart motif was used as accent on the perimeter cabinets and the Bead and Barrel design complimented the applied bead detail of the island door.
Other White River Moldings used in this design include the MLD5848 Large Egg and Dart Crown featured as the cabinet crown. The MLD5846 Medium Egg and Dart Crown and the CRV5112 Grapevine Tassel Corbel were both used to create a spectacular mantle shelf at the grand 95 ½” wide and 77 ¼” tall hood that surrounds a 72” wide custom range.
The MLD5979 Egg and Dart smaller molding was installed as light rail material at the bottom of the wall cabinets.
On the base cabinets, the BA43-C poplar Egg & Dart with Bead & Barrel furniture base molding was used. This furniture base was the tie that binds the kitchen together as it was used as a flush furniture base on the perimeter cabinets as well as on the islands. The CRV5179 Small Oval medallions were installed at the top and bottom of three fluted columns that separate the SubZero Refrigerator Column / Freezer Column (dual installation) and a Thermador Wine Preservation Column. The beaded accent on the Small Oval medallions again incorporated the beaded island door into the perimeter layout.
