A Beautiful Cherry Kitchen

Designing the rangehood is always the first and the most important element to establish. In this Cherry kitchen, I chose to design with the Scrolled Bolection Rangehood for the following reasons:

• Due to the height of these cabinets adjacent to the cooktop, the rangehood detail was installed higher than usual and I did not want the design to be too robust
• The Ovolo shape, bold yet simple, allowed the scrolled handcarved relief to be viewed, and the Ovolo engaged with the cabinetry
• The handcarved Scroll is a complex design - yet it is feminine with its beautiful, not overly carved motif

As I designed the balance of the cabinetry, it was very important to complement the feminine detail of the rangehood. I wanted these other details to bring delight and surprise.

• Created paneled pilasters at the sink using petite drops and pedestal feet
• Created a china hutch with pilasters, capitals, and a handsome carved panel mould for the shelf edge
• My island uses handcarved corner posts and feet, really creating the look of furniture

Before White River's Adornments™, "it was nearly impossible to find a dedicated line of petite-scale of ornament, carved from wood, for cabinetry and furniture," says Latta. "I wanted to help create a line of petite ornament that would be really useful to a designer like me."
